This melody is to be played as gregorian chant is sung: fluently, almost without accents and with a quasi free rhythm. For this, a delicate touch and a lot of control is needed. As with every other detail, it is wise to practise this passage slowly again and again, even if one can play it at the right tempo. Only then a higher level of technique will be achieved.

Deze melodie wordt gespeeld zoals het gregoriaans wordt gezongen: vloeiend, vrijwel zonder accenten en met een quasi-vrij ritme. Hiervoor is een delicaat toucher van de voeten vereist en een hoge mate van controle. Zoals bij ieder ander detail, is het verstandig dit fragment steeds opnieuw in een laag tempo te oefenen, ook al kan men het in het juiste tempo spelen. Pas dan wordt een hoger niveau van techniek bereikt.
