Maurice Duruflé - Veni Creator, Prélude, bar 57-70

A characteristic "French" enharmonic modulation from B-flat major to F-sharp major. At one moment, the left hand takes over the melody from the pedal; it is very difficult to do this in such a way that the cantabile is not disturbed. In fact, it is one of the most difficult passages of the whole piece and I am not yet satisfied with how it sounds in this recording. Very important is the gradual closing of the swellbox in five steps; at the last step the toe is subtly used to avoid making undesired sounds when the box shuts completely.

Een typisch ''Franse" enharmonische modulatie van Bes groot naar Fis groot. Op een gegeven moment neemt de linkerhand de melodie van het pedaal over; het is heel moeilijk om dit zo te doen, dat het cantabile niet wordt verstoord. Zoals het in deze opname is ben ik er nog niet tevreden over. Welbeschouwd is het één van de moeilijkste passages van het hele stuk. Heel belangrijk is het geleidelijk sluiten van de zwelkast in vijf stappen; bij de laatste stap wordt subtiel gebruik gemaakt van de punt van de voet gebruikt om de kans op bijgeluiden zo klein mogelijk te maken wanneer de kast volledig dichtgaat.
